Application of PAC in oil drilling
Overview
Poly anionic cellulose, abbreviated as PAC, is a water-soluble cellulose ether derivative produced by chemical modification of natural cellulose, is an important water-soluble cellulose ether, is a white or slightly yellow powder, non-toxic, tasteless. It can be dissolved in water, has good heat stability and salt resistance, and strong antibacterial properties. The mud fluid formulated with this product has good water loss reduction, inhibition and high temperature resistance. It is widely used in oil drilling, especially salt water wells and offshore oil drilling.
PAC features
It belongs to ionic cellulose ether with high purity, high degree of substitution and uniform distribution of substituents. It can be used as thickening agent, rheology modifier, water loss reduction agent and so on.
1.Suitable for use in any mud from fresh water to saturated salt water.
2.Low viscosity PAC can effectively reduce the filtration loss and not significantly increase the system mucus.
3.High viscosity PAC has high slurry yield and obvious effect of lowering water loss. It is especially suitable for low-solid-phase slurry and non-solid-phase salt water slurry.
4.The mud streams formulated with PAC inhibit clay and shale dispersion and expansion in highly saline medium, thus allowing well wall contamination to be controlled.
5.Excellent mud drilling and workover fluids, efficient fracturing fluids.
PAC Application
1.PAC application in the drilling fluid.
PAC is ideal for use as an inhibitor and water loss reduction agent. PAC formulated mud streams inhibit clay and shale dispersion and swelling in high salt medium, thus allowing well wall contamination to be controlled.
2. PAC application in the workover fluid.
Well workover fluids formulated with PAC are low-solids, which do not block the permeability of the producing formation with solids and do not damage the producing formation; and have a low water loss, which reduces the water entering the producing formation.
Protects the producing formation from permanent damage.
Have the ability to clean boreholes , the maintenance of boreholes is reduced.
Has the ability to resist water and sediment infiltration and rarely foams.
Can be stored or transferred between the wells and wells, lower cost than normal mud workover fluids.
3. PAC application in the fracturing fluid.
The fracturing fluid formulated with PAC has good dissolution performance. It is easy to use, and it has fast gel formation speed and strong sand-carrying capacity. Can be used in low osmotic pressure formations, and its fracturing effect is more excellent.
